Hugo Treffner Gymnasium (HTG) offers students three fields of study: science, natural sciences, and humanities.

The auditorium (up to 100 seats), equipped with modern audio-visual equipment, is available for seminars and conferences. Catering is also possible by arrangement with the canteen.
School Intro
Independence, the ability to learn and make choices and to be responsible for them is a prerequisite for planning an educational path and shaping one's future life. At the Hugo Treffner Gymnasium (HTG) a young person can develop his abilities in cooperation with expert teachers in a modern learning environment. An important place is an independent work, and studies are supported by practicums and study tours.
Schoolhouse
The school is located in the heart of Tartu, at the corner of Munga and Rüütli streets, next to St. John’s Church.
It is a building that has served as a school for centuries. In fact, when Hugo Treffner Gymnasium (HTG) moved into its present location in 1919, different schools had already been there before, of which Tartu Province School is probably the best-known.
Construction history of the school
The gymnasium, which opened on 15 September 1804, was given two stone buildings connected to each other: the so-called Princess's House and the old post house.
The position of the school’s land lots was recorded in a 16th-century account book by Wybers, the town clerk of Tartu. At the time, the block consisted of six or seven plots, which were later merged in the middle of the 17th century to form three estates.
